PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police are investigating after a man was found dead at Piestewa Peak Monday night.
Emergency crews were called to a wash off a trail around 7:30 p.m. for reports of an unresponsive man.
When firefighters arrived, the man was already deceased and beyond resuscitative efforts, according to Phoenix Fire Captain Rob McDade.
The cause of death is under investigation. Police say there are no obvious signs of foul play and it appears he may have fallen or jumped.
There is no indication at this time that heat may be factor, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Vince Lewis.
Monday's high temperature was 115 degrees, setting a new record for the date and tying the hottest day so far this summer.

The man is not being identified at this time.
