Free car seat, vehicle safety checks

If you have some free time Saturday morning, why not spend it making sure your children are safe?

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health says up to 90 percent of the time, car seats are being used incorrectly. With car crashes being one of the leading causes of child deaths, it's important to know the basics.

From 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, certified car seat technicians are taking action and will be providing free inspections and installation help for families in four parts of the Valley. 

This event is brought to the Valley by Safe Kids Maricopa County.

The locations providing checks are:

  • North –Target at Desert Ridge Marketplace - 21001 N Tatum Blvd Phoenix, AZ 85050 (Loop 101 and SR51)
  • South – Maricopa Integrated Health Systems (County Hospital) - 2525 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, AZ 85008 (24th St & Roosevelt)
  • East – Mesa Community College - 1833 W Southern Ave Mesa, AZ 85202 (US 60 and Dobson)
  • West- Abrazo West Campus - 13677 W McDowell Rd. Goodyear, AZ 85395 (136th Ave & McDowell)

Free general vehicle checks will also be given by experts from Neighborhood Auto Repair Professionals.
