A vehicle sought after a homicide in California was involved in a pursuit west of Phoenix on Thursday night.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, wanted out of Riverside County, around 9:20 p.m. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop for troopers, leading to a pursuit on eastbound Interstate 10. Near milepost 103, in the Tonopah area, officials successfully spiked the tires of the suspect vehicle.

The driver attempted to bail from the moving car and was injured in the process. He was taken into custody and flown to a hospital for treatment.

Eastbound I-10 was shut down at 339th Avenue due to the investigation.

No further information has been released.
