ABC15 was the only news crew there when an inmate tried to make a run for it at the Maricopa County jail on 4th Avenue.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said Kyle McGee was in the custody of Phoenix police and being transported to the jail from court when he saw his chance to get away.
The inmate was being walked into the jail when a door opened and he ran away while handcuffed. The police quickly caught him and re-booked him into jail. McGee is facing attempted escape.
Authorities say McGee was wanted for having an outstanding warrant.
