A judge has sentenced Stephen B Martin to 14 years in prison and three years supervised probation in a wrong-way crash that killed a Phoenix Fire Department 911 dispatcher in January of 2015.

Megan Lange was driving home from work when Martin's vehicle collided with hers. Lange was transported to the hospital with traumatic injuries where she was put on life support. She died several hours later at the hospital.

According to police, Martin had aBAC of .313 shortly after driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-17 and colliding with two vehicles near Glendale Avenue.

Martin claimed he chose to drive drunk because he received a call from his girlfriend who claimed she was being raped and needed help.
