Bus, rail changes for college championship

The College Football Playoff Championship game in Arizona this month will affect several Valley Metro bus routes. The game will take place in Glendale, while festivities will happen in downtown Phoenix.

On game day, January 11, Valley Metro will offer enhanced bus service on Routes 60 and 70 to the University of Phoenix Stadium area in Glendale.

Added Light Rail Service, January 8-10

Valley Metro Rail will offer extended hours until 2 a.m. on January 8-10 to support additional demand. Service will operate at regular frequency, between 12-20 minutes, depending upon time of day. In downtown Phoenix, passengers will board and de-board from certain stations:

Boarding only stations:

• Central Avenue/Washington (westbound)
• 3rd Street/Jefferson (eastbound)
• De-boarding only stations:
• 3rd Street/Washington (westbound)
• 1st Avenue/Jefferson (eastbound)

Bus Service on Game Day, January 11

On January 11, Routes 60 and 70 will be extended until approximately 11:30 p.m. to provide a connection to the University of Phoenix Stadium for the College Football Playoff National Championship game. Light rail service will match the extended bus hours.
