Court paperwork indicates after Payne hit the group of officers he went on to fight them.
According to the documents, Payne struck an officer, causing the officer to fall onto his back. As the officer was on his back, Payne was seen getting on top of the officer, continuing the fight.
Another officer who was thrown over the hood of the vehicle was able to use a Taser on the suspect.
Witnesses at the scene said Payne was driving fast in the parking lot and even revved his engine before plowing into the officers.
All three officers were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.
A supervisor that was on scene was pinned between the police vehicle and the suspect’s vehicle and suffered a broken left leg.
The officer that was thrown over the hood suffered a concussion and required additional treatment at the hospital.
A third officer sustained abrasions from jumping out of the way and from the altercation after the crash.
Payne is still in jail and is not-bailable. He will not be released from custody.
