The Valley Metro Light Rail system is back to normal in Phoenix after a deadly crash involving a pedestrian overnight.
According to information on scene, a man was hit and killed by one of the trains near 28th Street and Washington around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
The victim, who police say may have been laying down on the tracks, had severe head trauma and reportedly died on scene.
There were 15 passengers on board the light rail at the time of the crash, but luckily none of them suffered any injuries.
Police say Valley Metro called 911 after the collision. At this time, police do not believe Valley Metro was at fault because the operator was not speeding or impaired.
The area surrounding the crash scene is expected to remain closed for several hours for investigation.
Valley Metro brought in bus support to help bridge customers in both directions between 24th and 38th streets for several hours.
The organization said the tracks were reopened and service is expected to be back to normal as of 8 a.m.
