PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a deadly stabbing at a hotel near Interstate 17 and Thomas Road.
Police say the incident occurred just before 6 a.m. Wednesday. Responding officers found a man at a restaurant with an apparent gunshot wound, and he died from his injuries at a hospital.
Detectives later said they believe the victim, 62-year-old Kenneth Stanford, may have been stabbed and not shot. The Medical Examiner is working to confirm the cause of death.

Police say the incident started as a robbery. It is unknown what led to Stanford being stabbed.
Police later arrested 33-year-old James Parks and 35-year-old Naketra Alexander. Both were booked on charges of murder and armed robbery.
This case remains under investigation.
