A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a pickup truck near a Phoenix intersection Friday morning.
Phoenix police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said the motorcyclist was driving on Hatcher near 9th Avenue when the truck driver made a right turn in front of him, and the motorcyclist struck the side of the pickup.
The rider was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Fortune said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The truck driver remained on scene. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision, Fortune said.
Hatcher Road will be restricted between 7th and 10th avenues for the next several hours as police work to clear the scene.
