Police say a man on a motorcycle was killed when he hit a cement wall in Phoenix on Thursday night.

Officers were called to the area of 28th Street and McDowell Road around 9 p.m. after the motorcyclist reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign, colliding with a wall at the opposite side of the intersection.

Police say the motorcyclist had just borrowed the motorcycle from a friend to take it for a drive and was not wearing a helmet at the time the crash occurred.

The crash reportedly happened at a high rate of speed.

Police have only identified the victim as a 31-year-old man.
