New Arizona law cracking down on towing companies

A bill signed into law by Governor Doug Ducey cracks down on tow companies when it comes to getting your car back.

By next year, tow companies must release a car at the owner's request, store it in the closest available tow yard unless the owner or police say otherwise and allow owners to retrieve personal property from inside.

House Bill 2306 also requires tow yards to be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding certain holidays) and all fees charged must be itemized and clearly listed.

The law will be fully implemented by January 1, 2019.
