PHOENIX — A Valley non-profit is serving up meals to families in need this summer.

Civitan Foundation provides services for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. One of those services allows members to get hands-on experience working in a kitchen.

Members are preparing and serving meals Monday through Friday at different locations across the Valley. It's in conjunction with the Summer Food Service Program that provides free food to students while on summer break.

"This year, I'm proud to say we're going to deliver about 35,000 meals to children that might not otherwise be fed," Mike Prochelo, Chief Administrative Officer for Civitan Foundation said.
