Police say two people have been killed during a double shooting in downtown Phoenix overnight on October 5.

The incident happened near 3rd Avenue and Roosevelt Street around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Officials on scene investigating say one person was killed and another was taken to the hospital. The second victim has since died from his injuries.

24-year-old Zachary Walter died at the scene of the shooting. The second victim, 41-year-old David Bessent, was taken to the hospital and died several days later.

Police have not said what led to the shooting, but ABC15 crews were told a white Durango was seen heading southbound from the shooting scene.

“The community is really coming together on this as you would expect from the people who know each other down here,” said Darryl Brandt, the owner of nearby Public Image. ‘This is shocking everybody, people are shattered by this.”

Gofundme pages have been set up for DAVID and for ZAC online if you'd like to help family with funeral costs.
