PD: 18-year-old arrested in fatal shooting of teen near 25th Avenue and Glendale

PHOENIX — Police say an 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a teenager in Phoenix Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene near 25th and Glendale avenues around 1:30 p.m. to investigate a shooting call, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Ann Justus.

When police arrived on scene, they found a 17-year-old boy, later identified as old Tylek McGee, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Justus says McGee was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

On Tuesday, police developed probable cause to arrest Zion McDonald in connection with the shooting.

Police say McDonald was also arrested for his part in an aggravated assault near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road in which he fired a gun at someone he knew.

He is also connected to an aggravated assault near 27th Avenue and Missouri where he also fired a gun at someone he knew.

McDonald is facing one count of 1st degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
