PD: 3 dead, 1 hurt in shooting near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road

PHOENIX — Police say three people are dead and one person is injured after a shooting in Phoenix early Friday morning.

The incident occurred on the southeast corner of 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road after midnight.

Police say two groups of people, including two teenagers and three adults, were involved in a transaction in the area. At some point during the interaction, both groups pulled out guns and started firing shots.

Four people were hit by the gunfire, killing three of them. Police say the three victims have been identified as 19-year-old Victor Manuel Cruz, 19-year-old Avery Young and 16-year-old Salvador Gomez Medina.

Another teenager is in critical condition.

One adult who was uninjured during the incident is currently in custody.

Upwards of 20 rounds were fired during the shooting, according to evidence found by police.
