An elderly woman was struck and killed Halloween night while crossing the street in central Phoenix.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. Wednesday night, 79-year-old Gertrud Sieverd was crossing 7th Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk near Palm Lane when she was struck by vehicle, Phoenix Police said.
The driver, a 36-year-old male, was heading northbound on 7th Avenue when he hit Sieverd.

Sieverd was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
The driver stayed at the scene. Impairment did not appear to be a factor.
Police have not yet identified the driver as the investigation is ongoing.
