PHOENIX — A child is in stable condition at a hospital after an apparent accidental shooting Saturday afternoon.
Phoenix police say they responded to a shots-fired call at an apartment complex near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road.
When they arrived, they found a young child with a gunshot wound. Phoenix Fire crews rushed the child to the hospital.
Police believe the child was able to get ahold of the gun inside the apartment. While handling it, the gun was fired and struck the child.
No one else was injured.
Police say no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, but an investigation into what happened remains active.
