A Phoenix man has been arrested for stealing Fitbit devices from 11 Target stores around the Valley, while on felony release and wearing a GPS tracker.
Phoenix Police report that on May 25 they arrested 27-year-old Martin Efren Aguayo for allegedly stealing Fitbit devices from 11 Target stores, in six Valley cities since March.
Police say Aguayo stole the devices from Target stores in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Peoria, Tempe, and Gilbert.
Police say the Fitbit devices are worth about $300 each and were sold by Aguayo on the app 'Offer up.'
Aguayo was reportedly found in possession of three stolen Fitbits upon his arrest.
During the crime spree, he was wearing an electronic monitoring device after a previous arrest for aggravated assault.
Upon his arrest, Aguayo allegedly admitted to the thefts, saying he needed the money to support his family.
He's been charged with 11 counts of retail theft, but charges from other jurisdictions are pending.
