Phoenix police say a 40-year-old man has died after being stabbed on a bus in downtown Phoenix.

Police say two men had a dispute before they got on the bus. Once they boarded the bus, 33-year-old Edgar Dominguez stabbed 40-year-old Chris Kombol with a butcher knife.

According to court paperwork, Dominguez stabbed Kombol several times until he fell to the ground. Once on the ground, the suspect continued to stab the victim. Kombol was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man who tried to intervene was stabbed and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Dominguez ran from the scene and was later taken into custody by police on Polk Street.

The second victim is recovering from his injuries.

Dominguez was booked into jail for one court of 1st-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.
