PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer was struck by a car while doing traffic control Monday morning.
Police say the officer was directing traffic when the crash happened near 16th Street and Southern avenue.
Fortunately, the officer only suffered minor injuries.
"She was distracted; struck the officer, the officer got minor injuries; didn't require any kind of transportation to the hospital so we are very fortunate on that," said Sgt. Maggie Cox with Phoenix police. "The driver remained on scene and admitted that she had been distracted for just a moment."
Police say it appears the driver was distracted by her children in the car.
