A man is accused of entering an open balcony window and choking a woman in a robbery attempt, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Court documents said that 20-year-old Raymond Joseph Olono entered an open sliding glass door window on the balcony of an apartment near 20th Street and Camelback Road.
The police crime lab received a DNA match on Nov. 24 regarding an aggravated assault that happened on May 29, 2014.
Police said that early that morning, around 4:30 a.m., a woman was sleeping in her bedroom and heard a noise on her balcony. When she pulled back the curtains, she found Olono, who lunged after her. Olono started choking the victim, but she managed to get loose enough to scream for help, documents said.
Olono fled the scene, but after DNA evidence matched him to DNA on the victims' throat, he was found already in prison, doing time for aggravated assault.
Department of Corrections records show that he was scheduled to be released on Christmas Eve but was re-arrested on charges of burglary, robbery and aggravated assault.
