Authorities say a Phoenix man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his wife in the face during an argument.
Phoenix police say 26-year-old Vince Romero was taken into custody Friday on suspicion of aggravated assault and misconduct with weapons involving a prohibited possessor.
It's unclear if Romero has a lawyer.
Officers responded to a call about 11:30 p.m. Thursday of unknown trouble at an apartment near West Buckeye Road and South 17th Avenue.
They found a woman in her 20s with a gunshot wound and several people trying to give her first aid.
Police say the woman was transported to a hospital and remains in extremely critical condition.
Her name hasn't been released yet.
Police say their investigation determined that Romero shot his wife.
