Phoenix firefighters responded to a first-alarm debris fire around 5 p.m. Saturday.
Officials said the fire started on a lot near 15th Avenue and Broadway with a piece of heavy equipment near several large debris piles.
Crews initially had trouble getting access to the site, but were able to stretch hose lines and extinguish the flames before they spread.
The fire was under control as of 5:50 p.m. and firefighters were conducting mop-up activities.
