A Phoenix police officer suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning, when a driver turned in front of him, striking his motorcycle.
Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the officer was traveling westbound near Durango Street and 31st Avenue around 5:30 a.m., when an eastbound car turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision.
Thompson confirmed that the officer was transported from the scene with serious injuries, but they do not appear to be life-threatening at this point.
As of 8:30 a.m., Durango Street had been reopened in both directions after police cleared the scene.
