PHOENIX — Phoenix police say an armed robbery suspect was taken into custody after an incident on Sunday afternoon.
Officers were called to the area of 20th Street and Indian School Road where a 31-year-old man said an acquaintance took his phone and threatened to shoot him.
When police got to the scene, the armed suspect, 40-year-old Johnny Ramirez, fled into a canal area near 20th Street and Osborn Road, refusing officers' commands to surrender.
Police say officers deployed “less lethal tactics” and took Ramirez into custody.
No injuries were reported.
Ramirez was booked into jail for armed robbery.
