A pizza delivery man is facing possession of child pornography charges after hundreds of inappropriate images and videos were allegedly discovered on his home computer.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, John Brunsman, 38, was arrested on Tuesday at his home near 15th Avenue and Camelback Road following a two month investigation.

“The harm caused to children who are subject to this kind of abuse may be irreparable,” said Sheriff Joe Arpaio. “My detectives will continue to investigate and arrest all individuals involved in this criminal activity.”

The suspect allegedly admitted to Cyber Crimes Unit investigators that he had been downloading and sharing child pornography images for the past four years.

Richard Smith has lived next door for years and said that his friend took Brunsman on as a roommate. Smith said that learning the charges against him is like learning that he lived a secret life, and that the guy he knew was a nice guy and a hard worker, who liked to talk about football.

"I never expected him to even be charged with a speeding ticket, let alone something like this," Smith said.

Smith, a retired lawyer, saw the detectives during the arrest and one of their cyber-crimes detective jackets even caught his eye. He said he was surprised but guessed that they were investigating fraud because, while the thought of child porn charges crossed his mind, it still didn’t add up.

"That's not the John, to the extent that I knew him, that's not the John that I know-- so very disturbing, and disheartening too,” Smith said.

Brunsman is facing with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor charges.
