PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department says an employee was arrested early Sunday morning for solicitation of prostitution.
Officials say that once released from jail, he will be assigned to his home.
An administrative investigation is underway, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
A case number provided by the department indicates the employee is Michael Martinez.
Officials say Martinez was working out of the South Mountain Precinct in an administrative job but is a sworn officer.
ABC15 has learned that Martinez was under investigation by the department for another matter, but a spokesperson would not say what that investigation was.
Court records show Martinez paid a woman $100 for sexual intercourse at a hotel in Phoenix off 44th Street. It is unclear how the police department was made aware of the alleged interaction.
There is no current evidence to indicate any sex act occurred on duty or in a police vehicle.
