Phoenix police are working to identify a man who grabbed and threatened three female students near Betty Fairfax High School in Laveen.
It happened Friday around 10 a.m. along Baseline Road near 59th Avenue.
Two teens said they came to their friends' rescue after the girls called them scared, saying a man grabbed them.
According to the teens, they brought the girls back to the school to call police.
"He just said, it was a good deed that we did and everything, and definitely deserved a badge," said one of the teens, a senior at Betty Fairfax High.
Tuesday, they wore "junior officer badges" on their chests proudly.
Police gave them the stickers, after helping out their friends.
"One of them (the girls) was very terrified about it, and she was very scared," the other teen said, also a senior in high school.
The female victims, ages 14 and 15, are students at Betty Fairfax High.
They told police that a man grabbed two of them and threatened them-- possibly with a knife.
"The one that was really terrified, she got touched. They tried to fight him off, and he just ran away," the victims' friends said.
That's when these friends say the girls called them for help.
"We walked, like drove around trying to find him to take a picture of him, and then came back and just made the statements for the officers," the teen said.
"I have a little sister, just like he does, so I couldn't imagine that happening to my little sister," said the other teen.
Friday, the school sent parents an alert through phone and email letting them know what happened and asking them to remind their teens about safety, according to Craig Pletenik, community relations manager with the Phoenix Union High School District.
"That worries me because all the people are around here to the school, and in the morning there's a lot of students, too," said parent Maria Perez.
Police are calling this an attempted molestation.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, 19-20 years old, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 110 pounds with short hair, brown eyes, and scars near his nose.
