PHOENIX — A homeowner in the Valley dug up a tree recently and found something unexpected -- a duffle bag filled with rusted guns buried beneath it, according to a tweet from the Phoenix Police Department.

Police said there were rusted rifles and handguns inside the duffle bag. Photos shared on the Phoenix Police Department's Twitter account showed at least two rifles and two handguns, as well as some magazines.

The situation happened on Sunday at a home near 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, a police spokesperson said.

The guns were given to Phoenix police who will now determine if any of the guns were involved in any crimes.

The homeowners declined media interviews, according to a police spokesperson.

No other details were released.
