Phoenix police were called to an elementary school on Tuesday after a student allegedly threatened to bring a gun to school.
According to police spokesman James Holmes, the 13-year-old student sent a text message to another student indicating he intended to bring a gun to school and wanted to harm some classmates.
The student reported the text messages to Sonoran Sky Elementary school officials who contacted police and the student's parents.
Police said the student was not armed with a gun and that students were not in any danger. The student was immediately suspended and released to his parents. Authorities could not yet determine if the student had the means to carry out his threats or what his motive might have been.
The school is located at Missouri and 101st Avenue and is part of the Pendergast School District.
