The Phoenix Police Department is trying to determine how a car ended up in a canal Saturday night.
Officials said a passerby called 911 after seeing the car in the water at 15th and South Mountain avenues shortly before 9 p.m.

There was no driver in sight when officers and fire crews arrived, but a back window of the car was shattered, police said.
Police said they are working to get into contact with the car owner to figure out whether the car was stolen or whether anyone is missing.
