A Valley man is in custody after he and his girlfriend barricaded themselves inside a home near 46th Place and Sunland Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Authorities tell ABC15, a relative told officers the man, identified as Gene Adam Flores, said he was armed and claimed to have committed a recent shooting.

Officers surrounded the house and began negotiating with Flores to come out. He and his girlfriend both refused to leave. Eventually, they came out and no one was hurt.

Both were taken into custody by Phoenix police. Flores is facing charges from Saturday's incident, plus one charge of aggravated assault from an earlier incident where he fired a handgun at someone but a bullet did not strike that person.

Authorities said the woman was charged and released.
