Man detained after barricade situation near 7th Avenue and McDowell

PHOENIX — A man has been detained following a barricade situation near 7th Avenue and McDowell Road Sunday afternoon.

Officials say a man had entered a residence unlawfully around 1:30 p.m.

The Special Assignments Unit responded to the scene after the man allegedly shot at least once at officers.

ABC15 crews at the scene saw officers breaking windows on the ground level of the apartment.

Officials say the man was detained after several hours and will be booked on several charges.

Police say the man was treated on the scene by fire officials, but it is unknown the nature of his injuries.
