PHOENIX — Buying Christmas gifts may be difficult for some families this year, which is why the Phoenix Rescue Mission held its annual Winter Wonderland Celebration on Saturday.
Roughly 400 families pre-registered for the event, which allowed them to pick up new toys, food and other household items.
The presents were donated by members of the community and each family got to request specific items, so they were personalized to meet their needs.
"I appreciate everything these people are doing for us," said Rick Miranda, who participated in Saturday's event. "Especially right now that everything seems like it's so negative."
Unlike previous years, Saturday's celebration was a drive-thru event and families stayed in their cars the entire time to receive their items.
