PHOENIX — On Saturday, volunteers with the Phoenix Rescue Mission went door to door delivering turkeys to families in need.
"It doesn't have to be for Christmas or Thanksgiving," volunteer Kevin Legge said. "I know it feels like oh, I'm giving away a Saturday, but when you're down here and you're doing it, it's the greatest feeling ever."
The Phoenix Rescue Mission says Arizona ranks among the worst states in the nation for poverty and homelessness.
They say delivering food to families helps lift a burden they often feel during the holiday season.
