The Phoenix Zoo is welcoming a brand new tiger to the Valley!

Dari, a 4-year-old Sumatran tiger from the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Washington will be debuted Friday morning at Phoenix Zoo.

Staff says Dari is already exploring her habitat and settling in well. She is said to have a “very sweet demeanor,” according to Phoenix Zoo officials.

If you want to welcome Dari to the Valley, she will most likely be outside during the 8 a.m. hour and remain outside until 4 p.m. Friday.

It's been a busy year for Phoenix Zoo, which has welcomed new animals and said goodbye to some, too.

A giraffe named Rafiki was born at the zoo over the summer.

Polaris, a bald eagle that spent more than three decades at the zoo, passed away in November.

Kitambi, the zoo's 8-year-old African lion, also passed away in August.
