Phoenix police have arrested a man after he beat up and killed another man.
Officers were called to 27th Avenue just north of Indian School Road Wednesday evening to investigate a report of an injured person.
Police found 37-year-old Francisco Marquez injured. A witness told police that Marquez had been beaten by another man unprovoked and that the suspect ran away.
Marquez was taken to the hospital where he died, according to police.
The suspect, Calvin Manheimer, was located nearby and arrested without incident. He was booked into jail on one count of second-degree murder.
Detectives said the two men are known to walk through the area, but it is not known if they knew each other.
Impairment may be a factor in the crash.
