Police are investigating a officer-involved shooting that occurred after a robbery call in Phoenix Friday night.
Crews were called to the Walgreens near 16th Street and Thomas Road around 8:45 p.m. An officer saw the suspect through the drive-through pharmacy window, but made contact with him at the front entrance.
Phoenix Police say the officer challenged the suspect and a struggle began. The suspect, only described at this time as an adult man, reportedly had a dark-colored pistol.
During the struggle, the officer fired a shot, striking the suspect. Other officers who arrived took the suspect into custody. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but will be booked into jail after his release.
Police reportedly recovered a flare-type gun at the scene.
No officers suffered major injuries.
