Two suspects wanted in connection with an officer-involved shooting Monday in Phoenix have been arrested following an overnight standoff.
Police say the man and woman were located at a home near 25th Avenue and Jefferson early Tuesday morning. The woman reportedly came out when police arrived, but the man did not, prompting a barricade situation.
Police said SAU units were able to use some type of gas or explosive device, eventually getting the male suspect to surrender.
The couple was on the run since Monday morning, when they fled a traffic stop and left a Phoenix officer injured when they dragged him as they drove away. Police said the officer suffered minor "road rash" injuries, and his partner was able to jump out of the way.
The officer then opened fire as the suspects fled. The pair's vehicle was found abandoned a few blocks away from the scene near 53rd Avenue and McDowell Road shortly after.
This incident marks the 67th officer- or deputy-involved shooting in the Valley so far this year.
