Posted

Police arrested a 68-year-old man related to Tuesday's investigation into a suspicious package in downtown Phoenix.

Lyle Nordin was booked into jail on one count of False Emergency Reporting and Disorderly Conduct, said Sgt. Vince Lewis, police spokesman.

He was allegedly interfering with officers' investigation and would not listen to their commands.

A Phoenix Police Municipal Security Guard noticed a suspicious item on a light rail platform near Central Avenue and Van Buren Street around 5:25 p.m. The immediate area was closed off for hours while the bomb squad investigated.

The item was determined to be a camping grill. The roadways reopened around 8:30 p.m.
