Police: Man arrested in deadly shooting at Phoenix motel

PHOENIX — Additional details have been released after a deadly shooting at a Phoenix apartment Sunday night.

Phoenix police arrested 54-year-old Ernest Lee Walker early Monday morningnear 7th Avenue and Buckeye Road.

About 6 p.m. the night before, Walker allegedly knocked on the door of a motel room near 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street. A woman, who Walker knows, answered the door and was shot in the forearm, police say.

Walker then reportedly fired several more shots, hitting 60-year-old Boyd Lynn multiple times. Lynn was taken to a Valley hospital where he died.

A witness told police that he saw a man riding away from the motel on a bicycle right after the shooting. The witness identified Walker to police after seeing a photo of him.

Upon his arrest, Walker admitted to knowing the female victim but denied shooting anyone.

According to court records, Walker was on supervised release from prison after serving five years on drug-related charges. He was released from prison eight weeks ago.

Walker was given a $1,000,000 bond on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.
