PHOENIX — One man is in critical condition after a shooting near 7th Avenue and Interstate 10 Thursday afternoon.
A Department of Public Safety trooper was patrolling the area around 1:30 p.m. when he was alerted to a shooting. The trooper saw a man fall to the ground and another man running away from the scene, officials say.
The man who was shot was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in critical condition.
One person was detained at the scene, but a full police K-9 search of the area was conducted, according to officials.
Police temporarily asked that residents stay locked inside their homes.
Friday night, police say a 35-year-old man was arrested and booked for attempted homicide.
The shooting remains under investigation.
