Por tu Salud: Phoenix wellness program aiming to help more people

PHOENIX — Phoenix leaders have launched a wellness program to help better reach the Hispanic community. It's called "Por tu Salud," and it's free for Arizona businesses.

It's part of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce's wellness initiative, Wellness AtoZ.

The new version makes the program more accessible to all Arizonans—specifically, the Spanish-speaking market. It's more than just a translation -- leaders say the new program provides resources that are culturally relevant to Latinos.

The free program includes modules and toolkits that can help businesses support their existing wellness program or create a new one. President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce Todd Sanders says this initiative is part of the mission to make Arizona a place for healthy living.

"Part of it can be, how do you set up a plan for your employees? How do you talk about health? What are tools you can use to build up your plan? For example, a survey," Sanders explained.

Sanders says this is also a way to expand the reach to diverse communities.

"Once we saw that it had legs and it was working and it was changing lives, it was a no-brainer for me to say 'great, now let's do this en español,'" said Sanders.

To date, more than 95 companies have joined as Wellness AtoZ employers. In total, the program has supported more than 250,000 individuals across the state.
