Several road projects this weekend may lengthen the commute of Valley area drivers.
Here are the following advisories from the Arizona Department of Transportation:
Westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between State Route 51 and Cave Creek Road from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 5) for new elevated ramp construction. Eastbound Loop 101 HOV lane closed between Cave Creek Road and SR 51. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Westbound Loop 101 traffic can detour to southbound SR 51 and use westbound Union Hills Drive or Bell Road to northbound Cave Creek Road to reconnect with Loop 101.
Northbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed overnight from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 4) and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 5) for elevated ramp construction. DETOUR: Consider exiting northbound SR 51 to westbound Union Hills Drive and using northbound Cave Creek Road to connect with Loop 101.
Southbound Interstate 17 closed between Northern Avenue and Bethany Home Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 3) for pavement-improvement work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Consider other nearby southbound alternate routes. Freeway traffic will detour along southbound frontage road.
Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Loop 101 and Gilbert Road in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 5) for rubberized asphalt paving. Both Loop 101 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 also closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Consider alternate routes, including eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Other eastbound routes include McDowell Road, McKellips Road and Rio Salado Parkway.
Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed near Via De Ventura in Scottsdale area from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 4) for installation of overhead message sign. DETOUR: Traffic will detour along off- and on-ramps at Via De Ventura. Please consider alternate routes.
Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Cactus Road and 90th Street from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 4) for widening project. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.
US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane in both directions overnight between Signal Butte Road and Ironwood Drive from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday and Monday nights (Oct. 4-5) for lane striping. Expect ramp closures at Signal Butte Road. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and be prepared to use ramps at other nearby interchanges.
Interstate 17 interchange at Grant Street west of downtown Phoenix restricted with lane closures along frontage roads and freeway ramps from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 4) for improvement project. DETOUR: Avoid area if possible. Please consider using ramps at other nearby interchanges, including Jefferson and Adams streets.
