PHOENIX — Lyft drivers in the Phoenix area have another place to use the restroom, rest, and get maintenance performed on their vehicles.
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the ride-share company opened a 20,000-square-foot "Driver Center" in Phoenix where its drivers can use the bathroom, rest, enjoy some coffee and refreshments, and, if needed, opt to get work done on their vehicles, including oil changes, ties, wiper blades, filters, and battery replacements.
In its news release, Lyft said its mechanics would offer "honest prices on maintenance and routine services with the goal of delivering the services drivers need, rather than up-selling them on services they don't." A spokesperson said a full synthetic oil change would cost, $49.99. Pricing on other services would depend on the scope of work needed.
Vehicle diagnostics would be offered for free, the release said. Lyft would begin offering collision and body repair in December, the release said.
The center would also act as the company's "home base" for its Phoenix riders. Company representatives, called Lyft Community Associates, will be at the center to answer driver questions about the app, accounts "and everything in between," according to the release.
While touted as the company's first Driver Center in the U.S., a smaller one already opened in San Francisco, California. A spokesperson said the Phoenix one is larger, has a lounge, and driver support services.
It is located at 2555 E. University Drive, near 24th Street and University Drive, in Phoenix.
According toLyft's website, the lounge and refreshments are available Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The auto body shop is open Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
