Five people were hospitalized Monday night after a car crashed with another vehicle and a pole, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Officials said two women, ages 20 and 22, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Two children and a 60-year-old man suffered minor injuries. They are all expected to be OK, police said.

Moments after the crash, a witness thought the two children, who were in a car with the women, were in further danger because of leaking gasoline.

“I thought the car was going to explode so I took the kids out,” the witness, Jennifer Cabada, said.

The intersection was partially closed while police worked to clear the scene.

Investigators were still working Monday night to determine who was to blame for the crash, according to police at the scene.
