SKY HARBOR: Be prepared for delays, cancellations around Thanksgiving due to winter weather

PHOENIX — The Thanksgiving holiday is expected to crowd U.S. airports in record breaking fashion this year. Top that with severe winter weather across much of the country and Sky Harbor is asking travelers to pack lots of patience.

Even though the rain we are expected to see across the Valley may not cause many flight delays or cancellations, Sky Harbor says delays because of snow across the country could cause a ripple effect that leads to delays and cancellations in Phoenix.

Sky Harbor says as always, make sure to check on your flight status with your airline before leaving for the airport and check message boards once you’re there. If you need to make changes to a flight or reschedule a flight because of weather, do so as early as possible.

The airport expects Wednesday, Sunday and Monday to be the three busiest travel days around Thanksgiving.
