Tips on how to pest proof your home ahead of scorpion season

There's a spot in your home you may not be aware of that is a welcome mat for bugs and scorpions.

Chad Little, of Urban Desert Pest Control, said it's important to check your j-trim and weep holes if you live in a stucco home.

"The scorpions and bugs can crawl right inside the wall and get right inside," Little said.

Most trims have a small gap. The trim is what allows stucco walls to breathe when moisture gets inside.

Though that's normal and up to building code, an opening even as thin as a credit card, allows for scorpions to get inside.

"It is something that will eventually turn into a problem," Little said.

Treatment doesn't take long. The cost depends on the linear footage of your home, but averages between $1,000 and $1,500.
