A group of property owners are taking action to “Fight the Blight” against unwanted donation bins.
The Arizona Coalition for Responsible Donation Bin Policy claims there are at least 7,000 of these clothing donation bins located around the metro Phoenix area alone.
“Many of these bins are placed without the property owner's permission,” claims their website. “When the bin becomes a public nuisance, it's the responsibility and expense of the property owner to clean up the mess.”
The coalition claims most of these donation bins are actually placed by for-profit companies.
The group is now working toward a new state law that would require bin owners to get permission before leaving the bins on private property.

“Any entity placing a donation bin must first get signed permission from the owner of the property where they would like to place it,” the website says.
